The Immortal Climb, The Inevitable Fall

by Chris Carlier

This is one I wrote and used to perform with my group, The Scarletts, back in the day.

Original instrumentation included vocals, sax, euphonium, piano, electric bass, marimba. On this version, I play/sing each part (sorry for the singing) - virtually the same as original, except I replace euphonium with synth. :)

My favourite part to play was electric bass. I should have set up a camera to record video of how into I was. Haha!

My patrons on Patreon have had access to this track for around 10 days:

We have no idea
We will know when it's over
And until we fail
We must climb a little further

Now just a few of us
Some lost on the way
Some taken away
Still we can never look down
Unless we wish to let go of ourselves

We fall for days
And while descending
What a sound we will make

Chris Carlier takes the little that he knows about his favourite artists and, inspired by them, splashes blotches of ink onto paper using magic and a pencil. He then hires as many great musicians as he can to back him up in a weird little thrown-together chamber-sort-of setting and shouts at them, forcing them to run around the room screaming like insane persons until music comes out. ... more
