about

I'm very excited to present the third instalment in the Short Songs For Patrons series!

These songs were all written for individual people who've been kind enough to support me on Patreon (www.patreon.com/carliermusic).

For this project, I wanted to try something a bit different: I asked patrons to send me a photograph for which I would compose a sort of theme song. The photos I received were wonderful! I'm so grateful that people shared these memories and moments with me!

What I didn't realize, until I started working on the music, was that I'd never done something like this before. I'd composed music to match a setting or mood, or fictitious content in video, but never a very specific and real-life moment for an actual person (many of whom I know, personally)! The pressure I placed on myself to get these right was pretty high!

After a lot of scrapped ideas and semi-recorded songs and riffs, I finally came up with something I hope does each photo some justice and maybe puts a smile on a face or two.

Thank you to all the wonderful patrons who made this possible and worth doing! It means the world to me to do what I love for you.

Special thanks, as always, to Shoebill patrons:

Oneil Carlier (dad)

about

Chris Carlier regina, Saskatchewan

I make short songs for doing dishes or walking the dog or riding the bus. Sometimes it sounds like the smell of the ground after it rains in autumn. Sometimes it sounds like a long summer drive with the windows down.

Sometimes I make music for film/TV/games/radio. Sometimes I make music for patrons.

Most of the time I'm drinking coffee.
