____ On Earth?

1.
Green & Blue 04:05
Light separates the night from the lonely day where we will call to each other We wait, awake, uncomfortable, dishonest and fake Soon we'll start to recognize the faces of the ordinary people who can save us Kiss while the world is sleeping We'll dream together. And while the sun lights everyone, We'll find ourselves within love.
2.
Clouds. 03:40
I never learned to listen to the clouds For what I need to know So now I try, but they're not speaking loud Enough for me to show I care. Correct me if I'm wrong But didn't someone already write a song About the clouds? I'm listening. Isn't that someone I used know Looking down at me? Next to them, a ship appears to be Heading out to sea. I know it isn't really there. But that's the point of writing a song About the clouds. Can you hear it? Was I on the ground, or did I dream it all? It could have been a dream. Or one of those times when you witness you're alive. Nothing is as it seems. I know it isn't really fair. There's something honest about knowing I'm wrong. That's why I care that we're here at all. You could have left me on the ground. Instead, you picked me up. Now we're wandering through the clouds. I can't believe it. There's nothing left to do but fly. Fly towards the sun. Perfect in the sky. Love this state of mind.

I can't think today There's nothing I like Drawn to confusion, I memorize these lines But I still miss you And I love you Without a heart While I lie, sleeping I try to think of everything, but I can't remember The pills don't seem to help Take me with you I'll be here in Your fiery heart

Every Night 06:55
While the world is washed away While the skies begin to grey I can't believe all the sounds We choose to make That's why I came to you You think nothing's wrong While I'm sleeping, where are you?
8.
The Gardener 03:39
Come, stand in the light It's been a cold night I am here, I'll make sure you've got everything The Thumb always knows when to prune and when to let go My friend, my love You grow, you wait, you want The sky and the rain that plummet's down To hold us and our love
9.
We have no idea We will know when it's over And until we fail We must climb a little further Now just a few of us Some lost on the way Some taken away Still we can never look down Unless we wish to let go of ourselves We fall for days And while descending What a sound we will all make

about

This is a special, somewhat limited* mixtape, released only on Bandcamp for these weird days.

The tracks are unmastered and a little raw, to be sure, but they're honest, and you just may enjoy one or two of them. ;)

The majority of these songs were originally written for an ensemble I led, several years ago, called The Scarletts, comprised of a euphonist, pianist, bassist, percussionist and me on bass clarinet, sax, guitar and singing. These songs have been transformed into more of a one-man electro-pop thing.

*One day, when this blows over, I will make this album "private". Only those who have downloaded it will have access.

It's worth noting that patrons have had access to these tracks for a while now - some for months! Help me create cool stuff and hear it first: www.patreon.com/carliermusic

about

Chris Carlier regina, Saskatchewan

I make short songs for doing dishes or walking the dog or riding the bus. Sometimes it sounds like the smell of the ground after it rains in autumn. Sometimes it sounds like a long summer drive with the windows down.

Sometimes I make music for film/TV/games/radio. Sometimes I make music for patrons.

Most of the time I'm drinking coffee.
